The Art-Deco Watch gets its inspiration from the “Art Deco” world as can be seen by his choice of deco hands number fonts and colors. FOLLY the name of this art-deco watch is also inspired by Brodmann’s love of aviation as is witnessed by the red push button (frequently seen on aviator timepieces) and well-balanced sequence of numbers in the center; all contributing to making this a truly unique timepieces. In architecture a Folly is a building constructed primarily for decoration but either suggesting by its appearance some other purpose or merely so extravagant that it transcends the normal range of garden ornaments or other class of building to which it belongs. In the original use of the word these buildings had no other use but from the 19th to 20th centuries the term was also applied to highly decorative buildings which had secondary practical functions such as housing shelter or business use. In The Folly Watch a very thin panel uses high voltage to energize phosphor atoms that produce light you take a thin glass or plastic layer coat it with a clear conductor coat that with a very thin layer of phosphor coat the phosphor with a thin plastic and then add another electrode….and voila! You have The Folly Watch! FOLLY the art-deco watch is unisex measuring 36mm in diameter (1.42″) and 7.35mm thick (0.29″).
