Projects Calderometer Mens Black Fabric – Nato Band White Quartz Dial Xela Watch - PJT-7221SBN. The Xela Watch playfully measures time in colors and shapes inspired by modern artist Alexander Calder’s delightful mobiles. Long before “mobile” phones Alexander Calder created a new kind of kinetic art: moving objects called “Mobiles.” Just as they brought freedom and joy to art this watch can bring freedom and joy to your wrist! The hour is told by the large blue shape. The minute the smaller red shape with a hole in it to help point more accurately. The silver shape is the second hand constantly spinning. The crystal features a yellow object at the 12 o’clock mark. The face’s black object marks 6 o’clock. Together these add depth that adds to the “mobile” feeling. By suspending forms that move with the flow of air Calder revolutionized sculpture. Marcel Duchamp dubbed these works mobiles. Rather than a solid object of mass and weight they continually redefine the space around them as they move. Calder’s subtle balance of form and color resulted in works that suggest an animated version of paintings by friends such as Joan Miró. It is this suspended movement and motion that The Xela Watch seeks to duplicate.
